Once we start our Jump Rope Unit in December, the students are given the opportunity to participate in "JUMP ROPE CLUB". Our goal in Jump Rope Club is to challenge ourselves to complete a set goal number of consecutive jumps. Students earn "JUMP CARDS" for completing these goals. Goal numbers are in increments of 10 with the exception of the first card being "5" jumps. Once they reach 100 jumps, their name goes on a star and is placed on our 100 JUMP CLUB poster which is displayed in the gym. The goal after 100 jumps is to challenge themselves to reach 200 jumps and then continue in increments of 100. Each time they reach a milestone their name is placed on the increment poster of the goal they reached. When the students make it to the 100 jump mark, they also receive a certificate of accomplishment at the awards ceremony at the end of the year. Students count for each other for goals up to 100. Once they pass 100, Miss Morell then counts for them. Students are given time to practice in class and are encouraged to practice at home. Rope jumping is a fun and energetic way to stay heart healthy and anyone can do it!!!
