ABOUT THE TEACHER
My name is Andrea Tamburrino, known by many as “Mrs. T,” and I am your child’s first grade teacher. Having enjoyed playing with chalkboards, crayons, pencils, and papers as a child, and spending endless hours “teaching make believe students,” it seemed logical for me to pursue a degree in education upon graduation from Hopewell Area High School. Therefore, I enrolled at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I received a B.S. degree in elementary education and later attended Slippery Rock University where I earned a M. Ed. in elementary education as well as certification as a reading specialist.
I have spent my entire teaching career in the Hopewell Area School District as a first grade teacher, initially at Raccoon Elementary School and then at Independence School. As much as I do not want to admit it, I have clocked more teaching time than any other staff member in the district!
My husband, Ken, and I have one son, Ryan (he’s a big guy now), a daughter-in-law, Shazia, and two grandcats, Tomato and Basil. When not in school, I enjoy spending time with Ken, traveling to Philly to visit the family, reading, golfing, and playing Mah Jong.
Having raised a son, I have had the same concerns and anxieties that you probably feel now as a parent of a school age child. I know what it is like to feel frustrated when your child is frustrated, to hurt when your child is hurt, and to want to have a question answered now so as to help make everything better. So, if you feel the need, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I am here to work with you so that together we can help your child progress to the best of his ability--to do all that he can do and be all that he can be.
