2014 Congressional STEM Competition

Congressman Keith Rothfus has announced the launch of the 2014 Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Competition for high school students in Pennsylvania’s Twelfth Congressional District.

“The STEM competition, which requires students to develop an app, which can be working or a fully developed concept, will help foster an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and will encourage young people to pursue careers in these important and high-demand fields.  I look forward to showcasing the work of our bright young Western Pennsylvanians.”

Students in grades nine through twelve residing in Pennsylvania’s Twelfth Congressional District are encouraged to participate.  To enter, students must register at http://studentappchallenge.house.gov/ and create an account on www.challengepost.com.

Contact Allison Beresnyak at (412) 837-1361 or [email protected]. More information is available at Rothfus.house.gov/STEM.  Teachers, parents, and students who have questions are encouraged to contact their local district office.

Register at studentappchallenge.house.gov. Entry is free and open to all current high school students, 13 years old and above, in participating congressional districts (including home schooled students).

Students may compete individually or in teams of up to 4.  Each individual or team will design an app on the platform of their choice and submit it, along with a video demonstrating their app to ChallengePost.com.  Cut-off for submissions is 12 pm, Wednesday, April 30th.
