PHYSICAL EDUCATION

“Those who think they have no time for exercise will eventually have to make time for ILLNESS" Edward Stanley

PHYSICAL EDUCATION/ WELLNESS

Physical Education is the only subject which by the very nature of its content has the potential to affect how a person will feel every moment of everyday for the rest of his or her LIFE!

The ultimate goal of Physical Education is to facilitate students in improving their quality of life through promotion of life long health enhancing physical activity.  At Hopewell Junior High, students will learn why regular planned physical activity is important, why the concepts necessary for successful participation in regular physical activity are important and how personal responsibility/interpersonal cooperation can make physical activity a winning proposition for everyone.  We want students to learn how to control their own level of fitness, strengthen the heart, strengthen the body, relieve stress, avoid disease, improve self confidence and improve ones overall quality and outlook on life.

The curriculum focus is on lifetime fitness and physical activity.  Students are encouraged to work to attain individual goals.  Activities will be broken up into three separate tracks. Each of these three separate tracks will progress in skill and intensity through out the year/or semester. The three tracks are Cardio Fitness, Strength Training and various games.
