AP English 11
Sophomores who have been recommended and scheduled for Advanced Placement English 11 must take an entrance exam. The information concerning this exam must be picked up by you from Mr. Byrnes in room 206. It is your responsibility to pick up the forms. Do not disrupt any classes. You will need to sign for the information, so do not ask anyone to pick the information for you. The deadline for pick up is Friday, April 27th.
There will be a VIP meeting on April 24th in room 300 immediately after school. Decisions of upcoming events will be discussed and planning begins!! See Mrs. Korchnak if you are unable to attend.
Hopewell High School Art Show
The Hopewell High School Art Show will take place from April 16 to April 27. Everyone is welcome Tuesday night to the Opening Reception in the lobby 6:00 - 8:00 pm. There will be art, music, refreshments and friends. We hope to see you there.
Active Intruder Drill Information
From today until the end of the month, we are now in an active intruder drill window. As has been done in the past, an announcement will be made indicating that a drill will happen. An air horn will be used to simulate gunfire. From there, all students, teachers, and school personnel will use ALICE training to execute a decision based on information received. Any students and staff who evacuate the building will not go to the junior high, as they would in an actual event, but will instead assemble on the track by the visiting bleachers. Regardless of which tactic is employed, students and staff should move quickly and with a purpose, but be aware so as not to damage property or injure anyone. See Mr. Rowe if you have any questions.
May Day will be Thursday, May 24! If you are a junior or senior and you would like to be recognized for an award, scholarship, and or signing with the military, please complete a May Day form and return it to the main office by Tuesday morning, May 1st! Forms are available in the office or the Cafe.
School will be in session on Friday, May 11 which is the day of the prom. All students attending the prom MUST be in school and on time that day. Students seeking an early dismissal will be permitted to leave at the end of period 4, providing that they submit an early dismissal request signed by a parent or legal guardian by Thursday, May 10. No early dismissals will be accepted on the day of May 11 from students wishing to attend the prom except in the case of an emergency or extenuating circumstances.
