Military Partnerships: Paving the Way to Success
Hopewell High School was highlighted in Mary Lou Jay's article, "Military Partnerships: Paving the Way to Success" in the the March issue of Principal Leadership.  Michael Allison, the high school's principal, was extensively quoted concerning many of the benefits that come from strong relationships between the U.S. Military and public schools. 
Empty Bowls Dinner: A Hunger Awareness Event
Hopewell will once again be hosting an Empty Bowls Dinner on April 28, 2015 from 5-7 PM.  This dinner is a hunger awareness event and $10.00 gets you a handmade pottery bowl and a bowl of delicious homemade soup, roll and beverage.

Rachel's Challenge
On February 26, 2015, Hopewell students in grades 8 - 12 participated in the Rachel’s Challenge program. The program challenged the students of Hopewell to create a CHAIN REACTION by committing to abide by 5 principles. Click Here to read more about the program.

WPIAL Swimming Championship
Congratulations to the members of the Hopewell Men's and Women's swim team who proudly represented Hopewell this past Friday and Saturday a the WPIAL Championships at the University of Pittsburgh. While everyone who participated. . . 
Mock Trial Team Competes in the Playoffs
On February 17th, Hopewell's Mock Trial team competed in the playoffs for the first time in recent memory.  Although they lost to Quigley in the semi-finals, the team had an wonderful season and finished the year with a winning record.   
Kylie Gozur - 3rd Place Bowling Championship
Congratulations to Kylie Gozur who placed 3rd in the Gold Division of the Midwestern Athletic Conference Bowling Championship.  
Hopewell Gymnastics - Silver Division
Hopewell Girl's Gymnastics Team won the Silver Division team title on Saturday, February 21st at the PA Classic Gymnastics Championships with a score of 134.184.  Read the full article for more information.

Hopewell Lady Vikings
The Hopewell Lady Vikings basketball team recently recognized their senior players and managers at their home game on Saturday, January 31st.  In addition, the Lady Vikings will begin their post-season play on February 14th.

Hometown High Q
Hopewell participated in KDKA's Hometown High Q this year on January 17th against McKeesport and Ligonier.  The members of the team consisted of Mark Michalko, Rachel Falk, and Nicole Webster.  The full article contains a link to the recording of the competition. 
PIAA Cheer Finals
The HHS Viking Cheer squad competed in the PIAA Cheer Finals in Hershey on January 23rd and 24th.  Read the full article to see images from the event. 
Student of the Month

Big 33 Cheer Squad
Congratulations to Courtney Doyle who was selected as a participant for the Big 33 Cheer squad.  The game will be played in Hershey, PA on June 20, 2015.   
Polar Plunge 2015
Hopewell faculty, staff, and students participated once again in this year's Polar Bear Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics organization in PA.  The team successfully raised . . . . 
Mock Trial
Congratulations to out mock trial team.  They notched another one in the win column by defeating Ambridge last night.  nick Tocci won the best advocate (best lawyer) award, and Patrick Dusch won the best witness award.  Well done!!! 
Teens for Jeans
Beginning the week of January 26, Hopewell High School will be participating in a charity competition along with the other high schools in our county.  The charity event, "Teens for Jeans" will continue through February 12.   
5k Walk/Run for ALS Research
Please help Sarah Mooney and Cody Boring with their senior project by participating in a 5k walk/run for ALS Research.  The event will take place on March 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM.  Read the full article for all of the details. 
Blood Drive
On December 17 a blood drive took place at Hopewell as part of a student's Senior Project.  High school students and faculty had the opportunity to donate.  The Senior Project program has been a great opportunity for students to get involved in the community and provide thousands of hours of service. 
AED Training
Professional development is an important aspect of Hopewell Area School District.  The faculty and staff not only work within their respective content areas, but they also work on improving their understanding of various concepts to help ensure the safety and welfare of your children.   
8th Grader and Hopewell High School Math Student - Jacob Ujhazy - Outstanding Scholar
Congratulations to Hopewell HS Math Student Jacob Ujhazy for his selection to attend the prestigious Stanford University PreCollege Institute next summer.   
Hopewell Vikings Cheer
The HHS Viking Cheer squad finished 2nd in the AA category during the WPIAL Competitive Spirit Competition.  These athletes now qualify to compete at the PIAA Cheer Finals in Hershey, Jan. 23 & 24, 2015. The team is coached by Nikki Baker and Debbie Rains. To see the team in action click... 
VIP Club Visits Franciscan Manor
Hopewell's VIP Club volunteered at the Franciscan Manor on December 18, 2014 to bring some Christmas cheer to the residents.  Read the full article to learn more about what they did and see a photo of the club members who participated. 
Christmas Door Decorations
This year each homeroom was given the opportunity to participate in a door decorating competition as part of the holiday season.  After the doors were decorated, a few of the office staff judged the doors and announced a winner. Pictures can be found in the full article.
